Today, Monday, June 23, 2025, following an airstrike by Israeli warplanes on Evin Prison, parts of the administrative buildings, the infirmary, and the prison’s prosecutor’s office were severely damaged. Sections of Ward Four collapsed; windows were shattered, and several prisoners were injured as they rushed to the lower floors to save their lives.
Ward Four houses political prisoners, among others.
The prison’s infirmary has been completely destroyed, and there are no basic facilities available to treat the wounded inside the wards. Prison authorities are refusing to transfer the injured outside the prison and have effectively abandoned them without medical care.
Meanwhile, security forces and prison guards, with their overwhelming presence inside the wards, have intensified repression instead of providing aid. Threats, intimidation, and pressure on prisoners have increased, especially following the attack.
Outside the prison, highways leading to Evin have been blocked, preventing families from reaching the facility. However, a group of families has gathered in front of Evin Prison despite the danger.
We, the prisoners under siege and without protection, declare:
We had no shelter from the bombs, nor from the systemic violence that has crushed our lives and dignity for years.
We call on the people, on families, and on all those with awakened consciences: To save our lives, gather in front of Evin Prison now.
We are wounded. We are threatened.
We may lose our lives at any moment.
