Dasgoharan is a collective of women from across Sistan and Baluchestan who have long been active in grassroots efforts advocating for undocumented individuals, opposing child marriage, promoting mother-tongue literacy, and preserving our cultural heritage and similar activities. Here is their statement on Israel’s war against Iran.
This is not an address to international organizations, for the future clashes with the fake opposition and planning to seize positions from the colonialists and bloodsuckers of the Iranian people. When a territory is attacked by the occupying Israeli government, we know that every red line will be broken, and every international law will be violated. We will see that those who, with the propaganda of Hamas’ human shield, shed the blood of tens of thousands of Palestinians on the ground in front of the open and racist eyes of the world, will also target hospitals, schools and civilian centers with repeated attacks.
Therefore, in this situation, we do not write a statement. These lines you are reading are a speech, an address to our comrades in destiny and our global kin from Palestine to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Iraq, Libya, and other nations under colonization, exploitation, and occupation. In days when every part of Iran, from Tehran to Tabriz, Mashhad, and Isfahan, is being targeted by the Israeli terrorist regime, and infrastructure is being destroyed, we don’t even have the opportunity to criticize the shameless stances of human rights and peace activists. People have no shelter and are leaving their homes and lives in droves for an unknown period in the face of Israel’s unstoppable killing machine. Souls and bodies are wounded, children are scared, and the sound of defense and rockets has become the constant sound of the cities. In such circumstances, we condemn the attack on Iran under any title, and that’s it. This condemnation does not have a single word of qualification.
We know how imperialist aggression, occupation and intervention have dominated the progressive struggles of the people in Pakistan and Afghanistan, which have had undeniable effects on the lives of the Baloch people. The wars of the past twenty years in the Middle East, all of which began with the rhetoric of “preemptive strikes”, have resulted in nothing but looting, destruction, the antagonism of human communities, and poverty and misery. What was done in the name of “humanitarian interventions” has ultimately left the people of the region struggling to survive and make a living, having to fight for decades before they can rekindle the imagination of freedom and equality.
A mind that wants to resist colonialism, fight for life, and its goal is freedom of speech, defense of the right to self-determination, social justice, freedom and equality, it will achieve it through its self-religious and popular struggles and organizations. Extending a helping hand to imperialist governments that facilitate, finance and ideologically support genocide has no result other than sending people to the slaughterhouse and destroying the achievements and fruits of the long-standing movements of oppressed nations. Now that the field is more open than ever for the invasion of fascist and reactionary forces, and the merchants of people’s blood, the death and life of oppressed peoples consider it a “historic opportunity”, we must stand against this dehumanization and de-agency of our struggles. What the Palestinians have been experiencing to a much greater extent than we have for decades, and the resistance they have shown from the darkness of occupation and colonialism, can be a beacon for our struggle to say an unconditional, decisive and immediate no to the crime of the invader. Wherever we are, let us condemn the aggression of the Zionist occupying regime without fear and loudly, let us form our communities and anticipate our ways of communication before we collapse. Now is the moment when we must define our boundaries with any cowardly and racist stances and movements.
